SMCC Football tournament Results

A rain drenched morning of footballing competition welcomed our East Anstey players on Monday.  Despite the horrible weather conditions our players warmed the heart with a determined effort.

Our opening game against Federated friends Bishops Nympton saw a very close competitive game with both teams having chances.  It wasn’t until late in the second half that Bishops Nympton inched ahead.  Unable to recover, we finished with a 2 – 0 loss.

Buoyed by our initial efforts, we took the fight to Brayford having them under pressure throughout the match.  Despite numerous chances we were unable to finish them off, before we were hit on the counter attack.  A narrow 1 – 0 loss, which we knew was a game that we had control of was a difficult lesson learnt.

As the rain continued to soak us, we continued to leak goals with a 5 – 0 loss to South Molton and a 3 – 0 loss to North Molton.  2 very strong teams.  A difficult morning in which we learnt that we need to be more competitive to strengthen our chances in future sporting events.  The team never gave up and their heart and desire to achieve could not be faulted.
