Live Lesson on 500 words

The world’s biggest short-story writing competition for kids has returned and Class 2 took part in a Live lesson whereby the 500 Words judges and authors Charlie Higson, Frank Cottrell-Boyce and author and illustrator Elys Dolan shared tips, answered questions and wrote a 500 Word story in the space of a single Live Lesson.  It culminated in a reading from David Walliams of the collaborative story written by 100s of school children all over the country, including us.  Very exciting!

As you will see from the photos the whole class were engaged and enjoyed the interactive element of the event.  The children have tonight been sent home with their drafted ideas page along with other resources to help them plan a draft and then write a 500-word story of their own.

If your child would like to be entered for the competition, then please can you either email or send their stories in to the office by Monday 4th March for the attention of Mrs Scandrett.  I will then submit these online by 8th March and keep my fingers crossed.
