New School Council

Over the past few weeks East Anstey children, who were interested in creating our new school council, have been encouraged by Mrs Scandrett to write a letter explaining why they would like to be in the council, outlining appealing attributes and potential ideas.  We had a lot of interest and held a discussion about whether to run a campaign week whereby all candidates had to win their peers votes.  The children felt that the nine children who applied should all be given a place on the council, so this was agreed and adopted.

Today, we have held a democratic vote whereby all councillors stated which roles they would like to be and the rest of the school completed a secret ballot.  The votes were counted this afternoon with the following results;

  • Chair – Olivia Little
  • Vice Chair – Lucy Seatherton
  • Treasurer – Rosie Milne
  • Minute Takers – Evie Thompson & Juno Bradley
  • Assembly Organisers – Thea Buckee & Isabella Shaw.

Jesse Turagabeci and Arthur Greenwood are also on the council but withdrew from wanting a specific role.

The school council will meet each Monday lunchtime to discuss issues; generate ideas to raise funds; partition all children regarding ideas for their improvement plan and also work alongside the PTFA where possible.

A huge well done to all the children who took part in this process.
